The Meeting - Creative Minds Join Together.

The Meeting -  Creative Minds Join Together.

I had met George M Monaghar, Mona Pics photographer briefly on the set of Ashley’s Super Diva video shoot, he came later on that day to take some beauty shoots of Ashley, after seeing his work I contacted him and ask to assist him on a shoot as a hairdresser.

George had a venue and model for the following month; amazingly he gave me full control of the theme of hair and style to go with. This was great and allowed me to use my own designs were normally I follow the clients wishes, this let me to show a more Avant-garde style and some very wearable hair styles too. George already made arrangement with a model he works with the stunning Alexandra, with the time and venue arranged we made the most of it and asked Ashley and one of her dancers from the video shoot the gorgeous Nicolajane to join on on the day.

Peaches & Paint - Stephanie Kerr MUA

After meeting Stephanie Kerr at the Glitter Ball I was blown away by her work, everyone had their own individuality and done to perfection, even though under a lot of pressure that day with being the only make-up artist on set, she handled it all with ease and didn’t cut corners on anyone. I had no hesitation in asking Stephanie to join us on this creative shoot and was totally delighted she agreed to work with me to create the best looks to match the hairstyles and models individuality.

An early morning start up at 6.30am making some banana muffins for the girls early arrival, my place was on the way to the shoot, so we thought this would be best way to start as the 1st style was to be the Avant-garde style, would be to prep the hair and make-up before we set off to the venue.

After getting our models started we set off in our convoy of 4 cars off to the stunning holiday Bennan House in Straiton, Ayrshire. Typical Sat-Nav takes you the long way for a short cut, and with us being the middle of the country side not one of us could get signal on our mobiles, so we had to use that old art of communication … conversation and ask someone, we eventually found it, and started getting on with finishing our first look.

Lesley finsihing Alexandra 1st look

I had asked a few local Scottish designers for a lone of some clothes for this shoot but didn’t receive a reply, I was really wanting to show my flair for styling and I had known the styles that would have went perfectly with the look, so once Stephanie and myself had made final decisions of what looks we were going for, I asked the models to help me out and bring some of their own clothes. What I loved about this is all the girls were given the same notes on what clothes to bring for each shoot and they all added their own individuality to that by bringing their own clothes, so things worked out better for this shoot I think without the designers. But I hope to collaborate with some designers in the future.

The first shoot the brief for clothes was the LBD (Little Black Dress).

Alexandra - Ashley - Nicolajane
The 1st look is inspired by the vintage look on the high streets, a modern twist on a classic 1930/40’s hair style.

Have a look at our video taken by George while I and Stephanie worked with the girls. This is the first time we all had worked together and a lot of us had just met for the 1st time that day. What I love about this video is it reminds me of what a great day and how relaxed we all were and a really enjoyable day with everyone working together and allowing each other to get on with what they do best …

For Ashley’s  Rock Chic look, I went for it being sleek off the face and her full fringe gives this a sharp feel, then with the high Bun loosely pined,  a braid around the base also gives a softer younger feel to this traditional hair style.

We then went for some street styles and gave the models all their own individual look.

Vamping up another old classic with Nicolajayne, the classic plait, I went for the bang on trend fishtail plait with a fantastic quiff … Showing off her amazing eye’s… Love her make-up on this , Good work Stephanie

It’s all about the return of the old classics this year, we just vamp them up a little more each time they come around and this what I have done for Alexandra’s classic bun, with her long hair I was able to make it bigger and bolder but still keep it loose and soft, adding a lush hair band just added that final touch.

All the team together but george was still behind the camara, next time we will get him in photo (L/R Lesley, Ashley, Nicolajane, Alexandra & Stephanie)

Here I used different textures and colours to give a unique look and style, this would suit any style you just need to confidence to wear it.

I like to use different textures; in this style I have incorporated a 1970’s afro frizz along with modern straightened hair.

This is a lovely soft style for wedding or special day out …

A gorgeous soft style, full of curls all pulled loosely up with a soft twisted quiff.
