Sunday's Photoshoot - with two Lesley’s doing this shoot it was always going to go well…

With Model Lesley Elizabeth Clark and Myself Lesley Danielle Docherty on the shoot, well things were always going to go well with two Lesley’s on the shoot.

We had arranged in 2012 we do a shot together, Lesley contacted me to put forward the shoot due to other commitments, so with days to go I set about getting our shoot organized. With my Makeup artist Stephanie away to the beauty show in London I was on my own as far makeup concertinaed but reassured by Steph I could do it, I went about putting the mood board together for the shoot.

Lesley wanted a shoot in the style of Top Shop’s 2012 collection – We went for the 1970’s afro look and makeup. Since we were going for the retro look we put together a few looks for the days shoot. A prefect model to showcase Rabbies Retro Vintage Fashions, I knew I had a shoot with Lesley coming up and I also knew she would look amazing in a pair of Rabbies Retro, Vintage inspired customised ripped jean shorts for summer 2012 collection from Rabbies Retro own customised fashions, along with vintage inspired and genuine vintage fashions.

My trusty team mate from the GLS Team, photographer George M Monaghan stepped in to my rescue, even coming off nightshift to meet up with on a cold damp Sunday early afternoon.

Next up was the venue but Sunday afternoon with only a few days to go it wasn’t looking hopeful but we are lucky to be in Glasgow and for fashion shoots we have the best streets ever!! The hardest thing is to choose what suits the best. So it was an outdoor shoot and not the best for our 1970’s afro hair-do as it was wet damp day and the fact it lasted all day is my second miracle of the weekend.

Got my bear coat from Santa and it sure has come in handy for the shoots and kept everyone warm during the cold outdoor winter shoots in 2012 …. Loving the contrast between the two Lesley’s on this one, Model Lesley looks super chilled and glam, Stylist Lesley looks worn out and a little bit Glasgow if you know what I mean lol

Here is a little taster of the shoot on Sunday. Follow Rabbies Retro blog and Rabbies Retro Facebook page .

A Weekend of Photo Shoots - Saterday's Shoot

Just had the most amazing weekend …

Working on photo shoots that I had planned for a while.  I just love it when a plan comes together and runs smoothly.  Well as smoothly as an outdoor shoot can be in Scotland in February.  My last three outdoor shoots have either been cancelled or been a total nightmare due to the weather, but not these, although models and crew were freezing their butts off.

My first shoot on Saturday was for model Ashleigh Greenwood and her own vision for her shoot;  My brief for hair - Ashleigh wanted her own version of the editorial wet hair look.

I captured some back scene shoots for you to have a look at how it all comes together on the day…

7.30am Start – Getting ready for model Ashleigh who was coming to my workshop to get her hair set in rollers.

8.30am -  Ashleigh arrives and we get her hair set and dried and set off for Glasgow

10.20am – We arrive outside the hotel and a miracle happens, we get a parking space right outside the hotel in Glasgow City Centre. On a Saturday morning this is a true miracle hahaha I am loving the thistles out side the hotel... So cool eh!

Getting Orginized for the shoot.

10.30 we meet up with
Make Up Artist - Kimberley Dewar & Photographer – Laura McKinnon and get ourselves set up for some beauty magic . Notice that Ashleigh has a plastic bag over her head of rollers, to keep her hair dry while going from car to hotel, who says modelling is Glam?? Lol

11.00am – Ashleigh in makeup and we start on the styling. First Make-up then I finish off the hair style.

11.30 – Makeup nearly finished some dark and moody eye's …. Time to get those rollers out

Think Ashleigh is loving this look

12.00pm – Hair and makeup finished, now time to get ready ?? well not coats and scarfs as you would imagine in this weather .. No … well I will let you see for yourself in the finished images… Oh the poor models….

While getting ready the chat turns to public transport at some point and the things you see while traveling on them, this is a photo of everyone watching the video of a girl eating her own hair ehhhhhhhh….   Lmao

The things we talk about?? The things we video???
Even stranger
Have a look at their faces and judge by yourself if they like what they seen? Lol

Meeting up with old friends, Ashleigh meets up with her pal Craig so I thought this was a prefect opportunity for a photo..

12.30pm - That’s us all ready and outside shooting ... Well some of us are, not me too cold … OMG no way lol and what are good pals for… (To help us out) Craig stepped into the cold to help Laura as her assistant and get some light into the situation.

Me and the Make-up artist felt sorry for Craig out there in the cold, so we wrapped him up in Kimberly’s mittens and my bear jacket.

Craig rocking the bear look

2.30pm - One final quick look and then am off to my other clients for the day .

10.00pm - Arrived home from a very long day, but I had a brill day and night, then turned on my Facebook and Laura had posted us a few taster shoots, Have a look on Laura site for more information and some amazing images at   www.lauramckinnon.co.uk
