What a month…. It all started with Ashley Collins Super Diva Video Shoot

This is was one of the best months of my career yet, I know this sounds a bit random but I don’t think I ever had a month like it in chance meetings that led to a fantastic day of collaborating talent to create some amazing looks and images.

The beginning of the month I was working with Ashley Collins on her second video for the song ‘SUPER DIVA’ shot in one day in Glasgow’s Mansion House. Ashley had several looks in the video and we used different hair pieces, extensions and wigs to achieve these looks throughout the day.

The 13 hour shift flew in with a great crew and cast to make it all go well and get it done in a day.

Evil Diva Character for Ashley Collins new video Super Diva. We wanted something totally different from Ashley’s normal straight hair and took the hair away from her face to show off the dramatic make-up, we used hair pieces and extensions for volume to give a dramatic look for the Evil Diva Character.

Video Click to Watch the making of the video and me making my debut on video, now remember I had an very early start and busy day, well that’s my excuse for no makeup or effort made that day, didn’t realise I was going to be on camera. Note to self: Always do your own hair and makeup before any shoots

Ashley dancers have their LBD and we went for the sleek off the face look with a smooth quiff, then rocking it up with the bang on trend high textured ponytail.

Ashley with her pink hair and her lush dancers who both had beautiful hair making my job so easy.

My New Obession

July 2011 - Such a busy month, still catching up with myself
July is the month of Weddings and Days out at the Races, which means lots of hair up, I love the summer months everyone wants an up-do and just now the style is anything goes, something to suit everyone's taste. Have a look on my Facebook page for some of my newest summer looks.
Corrine Smith
I have been obsessed with Corrine Smith's designs for a while now and every wedding hair style I do I can imagine one of her designs  setting off the look perfectly, I tell every bride about the designs and to have a look on her website. Corrine Smith is an award winning designer in bridal accessories, her designs  inspire me to look back into the past  for a vintage look but bringing them up to date with a softer feel, much like a lot of Corrine Smith's designs, something for everyone taste, her bespoke pieces that will be treasured forever and heir looms of the future.

I was delighted to find that Corrine Smith boutique is only five minutes away from my workshop and I went to visit recently, Kilmarnock shopping centre has many little bespoke shops which are a total delight to spend your shopping day rummaging about them, easy parking with a car park directly across the road from the Corrine Smith shop, a petite shop filled with glittering tiaras and other accessories, my eyes delighted with an amazing range of sparkle, a girlies delight.
Corrine Smith boutique is a enchanted eclectic delight with a vintage feel, a very tactile shop with everything on show for you to have a close up look and touch and try everything on with the company and advice of Corrine herself, who is there to assist with any purchases or go over your own bespoke designs.  Corrine is having a Birthday Party as her shop is 1 year old on the weekend 24-25th September, visit Corrine on Facebook and follow her for yourself and see why she is an award winning designer.

Glasgow King Tuts

2011 April -Working with Sara Douglas and her band at their live gigs. Sara is a tomboy at heart; she won't mind me saying that her hair and makeup skills certainly don't match her fantastic singing voice. Sara needed help with what style and make-up suited her, after having our initial consultation at her  home,  we went through her stage outfits and decided on  an overall look, stretching her style for a stage image, but  keeping it real and comfortable for her while playing with her band. Once her style portfolio is set, I just turn up at the gig and find time between sound checks to achieve her look.

Sometimes the hardest style to achieve is one that looks as if it has just been thrown together naturally, than it is to do a set look; I suppose that's the perfectionist in every hair dresser. With session work it is more often than not, that the brief is - simple, carefree and stylish. I am glad we don't have wall mirrors on set as I don't think Sara would have been smiling at this 'before' stage, but thankfully the smile is there after styling, before she goes on stage at her King Tuts Gig in Glasgow.

A great perk of this job is the free backstage passes and of course we get to meet the other bands and also get to hear them first at the sounds checks, all in the name of work.

Looking forward to 2011 Summer Festivals.
